How to organize Google Maps restaurants together with your social food finds
On a Google Maps place page, tap Share → Copy link, then open Fsnap, tap + → “Paste from clipboard” → “Parse & Save”. The place is tagged “Map” and kept in the same list as the restaurants you saved from Instagram and Threads; if you allow location, Fsnap also shows how far away it is.
Steps to save a Google Maps place in Fsnap
Open Fsnap
Open fsnap.app in your browser, or open the installed Fsnap from your home screen.
Copy the place link
Open the restaurant’s place page in Google Maps and tap Share → Copy link (you get a maps.app.goo.gl short link).
Add a note in Fsnap
Go back to Fsnap, tap the + button and then “Paste from clipboard”.
Choose whether to show distance
When you save a map link, Fsnap first explains why it needs your location; it is only requested if you tap “Allow location” and accept the browser prompt. You can also choose “Not now”.
Parse and save
Tap “Parse & Save”. The title gets a “[Google Maps]” prefix and a “Map” tag; with coordinates and location allowed, a distance tag is added too.
On Android you can share from Google Maps straight to Fsnap
On Android, first install Fsnap to your home screen (Chrome menu → “Install app”). After that, tap Share in the original app and Fsnap appears in the share sheet; pick it, Fsnap opens with the link filled in, check it and tap “Parse & Save”.
Where do the name, photo and distance come from?
- Name: the name shared with the link or typed by you comes first; otherwise the preview title, with “Google Maps” removed.
- Photo: Google Maps previews are often just a map image, which Fsnap skips in favour of a keyword illustration or a default image, so the photo may not show the restaurant itself.
- Distance: only available when coordinates can be read from the link; your location is used on your device and never uploaded.
Can I import my Google Maps saved lists at once?
Not at the moment. Fsnap does not connect to your Google account, so places are added one link at a time. If you already have a CSV with a url column, use “Import CSV” in “Import / Export Data” to add it in one go.
What can I do after saving?
- Tap a note card to go back to the original post or map page.
- With many notes, use the search box and tag row on the home screen to find a place fast; the pencil button on a card edits its name and tags and adds custom categories (like “Date night”).
- Tried it and didn’t like it? Tap the “Bad” (dislike) button to remove it from the list; tap “Undo” in the notice to bring it back.
- If you allow location, map notes with coordinates show the distance and get tags like “Nearest”, “Nearby” or “Cross-region”; the calculation happens only on your device.
- Use “Import / Export Data” in the menu for a “Full JSON backup” or a CSV (the first export needs a one-time “Share to Unlock”).
